The Ambleside Campus (formally St Martin’s College) is ideally situated for access to the M6 motorway, Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow airports, and West Coast railway line.  The campus is located on the right hand side of the road just after leaving the town centre in the direction of Rydal.


By air

Manchester international airport is the closest and most convenient airport (http://www.manchesterairport.co.uk/manweb.nsf/Content/ToAndFromAirport).  Trains run directly to Windermere and the journey takes 2-3 hours.  There are two direct First North Western trains per day from Manchester Airport. Ryan Air may do some services including from London Stansted to Blackpool, (www.ryanair.co.uk) which is just over an hour away by car (Hertz rental have an office at Blackpool airport).

Glasgow Airport is approximately 150 miles on the map.


By train

The nearest railway station is at Windermere, about 4 miles from Ambleside.  A taxi or bus (regular services) to the campus takes approximately 25 minutes.  

Winderemere has connections from Oxenholm station, which is on the main London Euston-Glasgow line.

By Road

From the south, leave the M6 at Junction 36.  Take the A590 and A591 for Keswick and Ambleside.  The A591 forms the main road through Ambleside.  The campus is on the right-hand side of road as you leave Ambleside, immediately after the right-hand turn to Kirkstone.

From the north, leave the M6 at Junction 40.  Take the A66 to Threlkeld/St Johns-in-the-Vale and then the A591 to Ambleside.  As you enter the town, the Campus is on the left opposite the main tourist car park.
