The Conference starts at 12 noon on day one and will finish at 14.15 hours on day three.

We would like to invite all UK members to attend the eighth CCPN meeting from 12 noon on Tuesday 5 August until 2.00pm on Thursday 7 August 2008 at the University of Cumbria, Newton Rigg Campus, Penrith in the Lake District, England.  (http://www.conferencecumbria.co.uk/).

We are planning to dedicate this years meeting to the topic of "in silico, solids and samples" with sub-topics of Solid State NMR, Practical use of NMR software and Protein Synthesis and Sample Preparation.

Speakers:

Jakob Lopez, University of Frankfurt, Germany
Daniel Huster, University of Leipzig, Germany
David Middleton, University of Liverpool
Steven Brown, University of Warwick
Peter Henderson, University of Leeds
Richard Williamson, University of Kent
David Staunton, University of Oxford
Marko Hyvönen, University of Cambridge
Rafael Brüschweiler, Florida State University, USA
Vladislav Orekhov, Göteborg University, Sweden
Jörg Gsponer, University of Cambridge
Chris Spronk, Spronk NMR Consultancy, Lithuania

The meeting will be the eighth in a series modeled on the annual CCP4 study weekend for X-ray Crystallography.  The aims of these meetings are to present current best practice for all aspects of macromolecular structure determination by NMR.  The meeting is particularly aimed at PhD students and PostDocs, (mainly in the UK Biomolecular NMR community), and we have invited speakers who can discuss in detail the pros and cons of the different approaches that they are using.  Through discussion, we hope to come up with ideas as to how future NMR structural projects might best be tackled.

CCPN wants to encourage everyone to come and we will provide accommodation and meals for all UK participants from non-profit-making organisations.  We hope that attendees will be able to find their own transport costs to the meeting.

We plan to hold three sessions of about four speakers each, with ample time for discussion, over the course of the meeting, and will also include time for a poster session.  This year the meeting will be held at the University of Cumbria in Penrith, which is in the Lake District, a very attractive part of the country.  We also, therefore, plan to organize a nice walk.

Registration is now open.  Unfortunately we have been unable to get the new website's meeting registration working properly, therefore we will be using the old form, linked from this website.  This means that those of you who have not registered under the old system in previous years will need to do that before being able to register for the meeting.  – you will receive an e-mail confirmation showing days, meals booked etc and asking for payment to show you have registered for the meeting successfully.  If you do not get this e-mail it means you are not registered for the Conference).
We are sorry for this and hope it is not too inconvenient.  Should you have any problems please contact jfs31@mole.bio.cam.ac.uk.

There will be a registration fee of 50.00 GBP per person (25 for those presenting a poster, which will be limited to 45 posters).

Poster size:  A1 portrait (84 x 59 cms).

Last year we were oversubscribed so please register early and send your registration fee promptly to guarantee a place.  Registration will close on the 1st of June.

Additional accommodation is available the night before the meeting, this will not be covered by the CCPN and is offered at a cost of £28.00 per person per night, payable in advance.

For the walk you will need to bring - suitable walking boots, warm clothing, waterproofs, sun cream, a snack, 2L of water.  Please note participation in the walk is entirely at your own risk.

The CCPN (Collaborative Computing Project in NMR) is a project funded by the UK BBSRC with the aim of establishing data formats, promoting production, sharing and interfacing of software, and arranging meetings and seminars on best practice, in the domain of macromolecular NMR spectroscopy.

We look forward to seeing you in Penrith.
