NMR conference - Berlin, 27-29 October 2008
Conference invitation and description
Rapid and efficient structural studies using NMR spectroscopy,
with an emphasis on computational approaches
We would like to invite you to a workshop to be held later this year (from lunchtime on Monday the 27th, to lunchtime on Wednesday the 29th October 2008) at a conference centre near Berlin. The meeting is funded by the EU NMR-LIFE programme (as well as the Extend-NMR project) to explore best practice for "Rapid and efficient structural studies using NMR spectroscopy, with an emphasis on computational approaches".
The meeting is modeled on similar meetings organised by the CCPN (Collaborative Computing Project in NMR) in the UK (www.ccpn.ac.uk). The CCPN project was set up by a UK research council (the BBSRC) with the aim of arranging meetings and seminars on best practice in the domain of macromolecular NMR spectroscopy, and also to establish data formats and promote the production, sharing and interfacing of software. The meeting is particularly aimed at PhD students and post-docs. (mainly from the European Biomolecular NMR community) who are learning about NMR, and we have invited student and post-doc. speakers who can discuss in detail the pros and cons of the different approaches that they are using. Through discussion, we hope to come up with ideas as to how future NMR structural projects might best be tackled.
Program:
For details see the Program page.
- Applications in Solution
- Applications in Solids
- New methods for biomolecular NMR
include time for a poster session. The program includes presentations by the different groups developing software as part of the CCPN and EU Extend-NMR projects.
Social Program:
The Conference Centre is in a very attractive part of the country and as part of the meeting we shall organize a nice walk led by a forester. For the walk you will need to bring suitable walking boots, warm clothing, waterproofs etc. There will be also an evening with live music.Posters:
Posters should be relevant to the topic of the meeting. They must be A1 portrait size (84 x 59 cms).Organisers:

The place is an old hunting lodge on the WerbellinSee, about 60Km NNE of Berlin.
There is no public transport, so arrival has to be by car- the nearest railway station is called Eberswald. The conference center should be able to arrange shuttles from the station if you call them.
When?
Mid-day Monday 27 October to Mid-day Wednesday 29 October 2008Registration
Registration is now open. Fee is 50 Euro (25 Euro if presenting a poster). Registration must be mailed / FAXed to the registration address. See Registration form for detailsAccommodation:
We particularly want to encourage postdocs and students who might not otherwise be able to obtain funding to attend NMR meetings, and so we intend to pay for the accommodation and meals for all European participants from non-profit making organizations. We hope that attendees will be able to cover the costs of their own transport to the meeting, but where the research group they belong to cannot cover those costs we will also consider providing grants for travel.Additional accommodation is available on the nights before and after the meeting, but this will not be covered by the meeting and is offered at a cost of 80 (double) or 100 (single) Euro per night, payable in advance.
